Acute Wrist Injury — Ultra-High-Resolution 3T MRI | Gold Coast
Acute Wrist Injury — Ultra-High-Resolution 3T MRI
Small Structures. Significant Injuries. Detailed Imaging.
A painful wrist may involve structures only millimetres in size.
Falls, sporting collisions, racquet sports, climbing and contact injuries can damage small ligaments, tendons, cartilage and bones in the wrist.
At MBR Health, our advanced 3T MRI system supports ultra-high-resolution 3D imaging designed to assess complex wrist anatomy.
What Can MRI Detect?
- Scaphoid and other carpal bone injuries.
- Occult fractures and bone marrow abnormalities.
- Scapholunate and lunotriquetral ligament tears.
- Triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) injuries.
- Selected pulley and joint capsule injuries.
- Cartilage and other joint abnormalities.
Why Ultra-High-Resolution 3D Imaging?
Small anatomical structures can be particularly challenging to assess using conventional thicker-slice imaging.
Selected sub-0.5 mm 3D MRI acquisitions permit detailed multiplanar assessment, potentially improving the characterisation of subtle anatomical abnormalities.
Hand or Wrist?
Hand and wrist MRI examinations are performed using different anatomical fields of view and imaging protocols. This booking is for a wrist MRI - if a hand is also required an additional fee may be required.
Our radiologist will review the location and mechanism of injury to confirm the most appropriate study.
Request Directly
Selected privately funded hand and wrist MRI examinations may be requested without an existing external referral, subject to radiologist approval and nomination of a treating medical practitioner.
