Acute Hand or Writst Injury — Ultrasound | Gold Coast
Acute Hand & Wrist Injury — Specialist Musculoskeletal Ultrasound
Small Tendons. Small Ligaments. Detailed Dynamic Assessment.
Hand and wrist injuries can affect delicate structures that are only millimetres in size.
At MBR Health on the Gold Coast, high-resolution musculoskeletal ultrasound provides real-time assessment of selected tendons, ligaments, nerves and superficial soft tissues.
It is particularly useful when a tendon injury or dynamic abnormality is suspected.
What Can Ultrasound Assess?
- Finger flexor and extensor tendon injuries.
- Finger pulley injuries, including climbing-related injuries.
- Selected thumb and finger collateral ligament tears.
- Tendon subluxation and instability.
- Tendon sheath inflammation and fluid.
- Selected superficial nerve abnormalities.
- Localised soft-tissue injuries.
- superficial ligament injuries.
- dynamic carpal instability
- carpal tunnel syndrome.
Why Ultrasound?
Dynamic imaging can demonstrate movement-related abnormalities that may not be apparent on static imaging.
However, suspected scaphoid fractures, deep carpal ligament injuries, TFCC injuries or complex internal wrist abnormalities may require MRI or another investigation.
